Artist Bio
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (Scottish designer and architect)
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, and artist known for his contributions to Art Nouveau and modern design. He is best remembered for his work on the Glasgow School of Art and the Willow Tearooms, often collaborating with his wife, Margaret Macdonald.
His style combined geometric shapes, floral motifs, and influences from Japanese design, shaping both architecture and interior design. Later, he focused on watercolor painting. Despite some career setbacks, Mackintosh's legacy grew after his death, influencing modern architecture and design, with ongoing restoration efforts and exhibitions dedicated to his work.
