Artist Bio
Dino Rosin (Italian Glass Designer)
Dino Rosin, born in Venice in 1948, grew up on the glass-making island of Murano. He began his glass career at the age of twelve as an apprentice at Barovier and Toso, later working with his brothers at their factory, Artvet. After his brother Loredano's tragic death in 1992, Dino became the maestro, continuing to produce both his brother's and his own designs.
Known for his expertise in cold-working glass, Dino's large glass sculptures are celebrated worldwide. His use of the rare and historical Calcedonia glass, which he helped revive with his brother in 1977, makes his work distinctive and highly collectible. His first U.S. tour was in 1993, and he has since made several visits to showcase his work. Calcedonia glass, with its unique color striations, is central to his craft and is highly admired for its unpredictability and beauty.
