Angelo Donghia (American designer)

Angelo Donghia (1935–1985) was a renowned American interior designer known for his minimalist, elegant style. He began his design career early, working in his father’s tailoring shop, and studied at Parsons School of Design. Donghia became a partner at Yale Burge Interiors and gained acclaim for projects like the Metropolitan Opera Club room.

He later founded Donghia Associates, expanding into furniture, textiles, and showrooms, pioneering mass-market design with licensed products. His clients included celebrities, corporations, and cultural institutions, with notable works like the S.S. Norway and Omni International Hotels.

Donghia was also dedicated to education and charity through the Angelo Donghia Foundation. Inducted posthumously into the Interior Design Hall of Fame, his legacy continues to influence American design.
